Two colourless liquids, one question: which is the aldehyde? These simulations put the classic carbonyl tests in your hands — drop Tollens' reagent into a test tube, warm it in a water bath and watch a real silver mirror grow on the glass; try Fehling's solution and see the deep-blue liquid throw a brick-red precipitate. Only the aldehyde answers, because only it can be oxidised — run the same tests on a ketone and nothing happens, which is exactly the point.
