A white powder with no label is a puzzle every chemist learns to solve. These simulations hand you the full detective kit: dip a platinum loop into the salt and hold it in the Bunsen flame to read the cation from its colour, then dissolve the salt and drop in reagents — silver nitrate, barium chloride, dilute acid — and let the precipitates and effervescence give up the anion. In mystery mode the sim deals you an unknown and checks your verdict.
